Phil Hinton (former news editor and reviewer for Total DVD Online), who you may know as the AV Forums Editor and reviewer for the last 4 years, as well as host of the AV Forums podcast reviews, will take on the role of AV Play editor. Joining Phil is our assistant editor and games guru Seth Gecko, who has been writing for the AV Forums for the last 18 months. Seth will be expanding our gaming news and reviews, as well as bringing HD DVD reviews to AV Play.AV Play, while having over 6,000 reviews online is not complete.

Lizard Update!

I may have good news regarding this never ending saga of the forthcoming Italian DVD release of Lucio Fulci's "Lizard in a Womens Skin" - Reports from Italy say the release date has been put back to the middle of June (some say the 4th, the 8th or the 13th) because Federal Video (part of Cecchi Gori) (allegedly) have now got an uncut version of better quality compared to that of MediaBlasters original release. They are also working on more extras as well.

Emanuelle Update

I ordered the 3 Emanuelle DVD's last Sunday with Astabe in Poland and it was a pretty easy site to navigate.

Total to the UK was around 95zl which is around £16.

All 3 arrived today no problem at all. So if anyone want to pick these up I recommend the site above. Image quality is good and the Italian 5.1 track sounds great. No extras, just trailers of other Emanuelle releases.

A total bargain!

Podcast: Mondo Movie

I'm not sure how many of you are into the whole podcasting phenomenon, but I've certainly caught the bug. I catch up on movie and DVD reviews, news from the world of wrestling, the ramblings of the Lunatics Radio Show and of course the famous Dawn and Drew. However there is one podcast that I always make a point of listening to; The Mondo Movie Podcast. Hosted by two UK dudes, Ben Howard and Dan Auty, its basically an hour's chat about cult and genre movies. They are very knowledgeable and highly entertaining, so I urge you to check it out. At the moment they are having a giallo festival, that started with Podcast #22 with Luciano Ercoli's "Death Walks at Midnight", with Podcast #23 talking about Antonio Margheriti's "Seven Deaths in the Cats Eye"

Fans of Laura Gemser rejoice as there are 3 new Emanuelle releases on the way - all uncut!

All are being released on R2 by Vision DVD in Poland!

Should be available from all EuroCult retailers next week.

Again, this is meant to be totally uncut for the first time on DVD, with all hard core sequences intact. There also meant to be hard score scenes with Karin Schubert and a Laura Gemser stand in.

A Lizard without a Tail!

Bad news regarding the Cecchi Gori R2 release of Lucio Fulci's "Lizard in a Woman's Skin", it is definitely the cut version with the best transfer, probably the same master used in the Shriek Show release. Federal Video who are releasing it through CG, say that for the full uncut version, they only had access to a version in very bad condition. They add that they have been searching for a good uncut master and may know more later in the year, but for the moment according to Videoarcheologia.it the DVD will be released on 13/6.

Unfortunately hopes were raised with the possibility of an uncut release, but alas no joy for now. There must be good quality uncut elements out there, hopefully someone looks a bit harder next time. If there is anymore news, I'll be sure and post it.
