Look what I just bought from my man in Japan: original posters of "Delinquent Girl Boss:Worthless To Confess" and "Star Of David:Beautiful Girl Hunter". I am super happy, can't wait till these arrive!

With the popularity of Pink titles arriving more and more on DVD thanks in the past to Panik House and more recently Synapse and Pink Eiga, what are your favourite "Pink" movies or if you've yet to sample any, where would you like to start?"

KingMob (Dear Bastards)

I've dutifully purchased the first four Pink Eiga titles, though I've only found time to watch S & M Hunter and A Lonely Cow Weeps At Dawn so far. I was rather impressed with Lonely Cow, as it seemed to be a fairly legit drama, a story of unrequited love that just happens to be filled to the brim with outlandish sex sequences between the dramatic beats that move the story along.

I'm definitely looking forward to checking out more from this genre, though I may try to look into a book on the subject before I blind-buy too much more, just to be more aware of the history of specific titles, or their significance of release.

Kimberley Lindbergs (Cinebeats)

I prefer early pink (and violent pink) films over the new ones I've seen and I usually like the work of artistically inclined directors who bend the rules a bit and inject their films with radical politics or social critiques. A few of my favorite pink directors are Koji Wakamatsu (Go, Go Second Time Virgin), Yasuharu Hasabe (Assault! Jack the Ripper), Shunya Ito (Female Scorpion films), Teruo Ishii (Female Yakuza Tale) and Norifumi Suzuki (School of the Holy Beast). A couple of more current working directors I like a lot are Takashi Ishii (Freeze Me) and Kazuyoshi Kumakiri (Kichiku). It would be impossible for me to list all my favorite pink movies, but these directors are responsible for many of my favorite Japanese films and I highly recommend all their work.

Funny you should ask that as just yesterday I reviewed my DeepDiscount Wishlist and noticed to my dismay that the Pinky Violence Collection appears to now be discontinued. *This* would have been the place for me to start my Pinkedumacation. The only Pink movies I am so far familiar with (and that have me gagging for more) are SEX AND FURY and FEMALE YAKUZA TALE.

More Pinky Violence and Horror from Panik House

Great news from Matt Kennedy at Panik House who are teaming up with Don May Jr. at Synapse Films to release some Pinky Horror titles:

"Edogawa Ranpo Zenshu: Kyofu Kikei Ningen; aka Horror Of The Malformed Men"



This is the most notorious film in the history of Japanese cinema. It has been banned since it's release in 1969, and is the film that really cemented Teruo Ishii's reputation as a master in the art of transgressive filmmaking. All rhetoric aside, this is one of the true classics of the era.

"Kaidan Hebi-onna; aka Snake Woman's Curse"

This was the first of the Pinky Horror films released by Toei. It was helmed by master director Nobuo Nakagawa, who has been called the Japanese Hitchcock, and Akemi Negishi (Sex & Fury, Lady Snowblood) stars.

"These films are beyond legendary, and have never been released on DVD. Some English titles may change by release date, but make no mistake that these films will be presented uncut in their original form -remastered for optimal viewing and listening enjoyment.

This particular crop of films has allowed me to present two entire series (like we did with the two Inoshika Ocho films starring Reiko Ike), which was key in my decision to license them. I had chosen not to release the entire series of Girl Boss films because I felt that not all entries were as strong as Girl Boss Guerilla, but the two Butterfly films and the three Okatsu films are all really incredible movies, so it's not a case of licensing them just to release a whole series; these films rock!

Additionally, these will not be issued as box sets, but instead as individual discs (possibly at the same time) affording the option of buying all at once or one at a time as your budget dictates."

Pulp Fiction

While browsing blogs such as Groovy Age of Horror and Teleport City, I came across some trashy pulp fiction that seemed too good to pass up. First up was the Nick Carter: Killmaster series that sees the titular secret agent sent out on daring top secret missions. These books had no author attached to them and were simply churned out one after the other. While definitely not great literature, they are pretty well written and most of all good fun.

I ordered “Nick Carter: Massacre in Milan” from Amazon for my first foray into the world of Killmaster. Carter is sent to Italy by his agency AXE to discover why Arab terrorists, a Nazi spy and Israeli counter-agents are fighting over oil and perhaps something more. He springs into action, with guns, gadgets and girls, its James Bond but with more sex, violence and it’s totally non-PC into the bargain. At around 188 pages it’s none too taxing but a perfect read for a long plane journey or summer reading while you’re relaxing on the beach. If you want more Nick Carter, then have no fear as around 260 novels were written and can be picked up 2nd hand from Amazon and eBay.






In addition to Nick Carter, there are other series that I’m interested in exploring, starting with Edward S. Aarons “Sam Durell” thrillers. Durell is another problem solver who works for the CIA this time and again is sent out on daring missions no-one else would accept. I choose “Assignment Nuclear Nude” to begin with, where Durell has to investigate the link between some paintings and secret nuclear plans. He is in two minds in taking the assignment until he discover that the owners of the paintings each have beautiful daughters, he finds some renewed enthusiasm. He sets off with the girls in tow and a new adventure begins. The premise sounds great and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into my first Sam Durell adventure.





Also recently ordered from Amazon is “Death is a Ruby Light” from The Baroness series by Paul Kenyon. Only 8 books were ever written and they were even more non-PC, violent with much more explicit sex. Sounds good to me!




The Baroness was “A former Vogue and Elle cover model, the Baroness is a "long-legged beauty in her thirties" who runs a model agency as a cover for her espionage missions. Her preferred weapon is the Bernadelli VB .25 caliber”. In addition “She drinks pitchers of martinis, smokes the occasional joint, drives a red Porsche, throws lavish parties in her Rome mansion and enjoys fierce but casual sex with a series of swarthy hunks, including suspected enemies she may well have to kill. Her green eyes, black hair and "explicit cheekbones" prove the perfect smokescreen. "There wasn't a line or shadow on her lovely face to show the deadly secrets that lay behind it." Review: Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl-Bombs

An interesting yet ultimately unsatisfying comedy from Mario Bava starring Vincent Price and Franco & Ciccio.

"The dastardly Dr.Goldfoot (Vincent Price) is determined to take over the world by getting rid of NATO’s top generals. Along with his assistants Hardjob (Tahi) and Fong (Wang) he has created "Girl Bombs" who explode when they get embraced and kissed by their intended targets...."

Jason Statham returns as Frank Martin in Transporter II - The Mission. It's a totally over the top action flick but one the most enjoyable I've seen in years.

Review: Kilink vs. Superman/Kilink Strip and Kill

This is the 2nd Kilink DVD by Onar Films as we catch up with Kilink and his encounters with Superman. Following this is Kilink Strip and Kill, which is the best looking and best contructed Kilink film available. Again this is a very limited edition set rounded off with some interesting extras.
