Nice to see this Japanese shocker getting a UK release - hopefully uncut as well!
September 25th sees Black Sun: Nanking Massacre come to Region 2 DVD from Tartan Grindhouse.Using documentary footage BLACK SUN is the re-telling of the events that surrounded the 1937 massacre at the Chinese city of Nanking by the Japanese, where some 300.000 people were brutally slaughtered, showing that the Nazis were not the only army capable of acts of barbarism. In what is truly a harrowing piece of film making director Tun Fei Mou skillfully dramatises certain events, grafting on actual footage and period photographs creating a truly unforgettable documentation of man’s inhumanity to man. Possibly the most disturbing yet powerful war film ever. Japanese language with English subtitles.
DVD extras include: historical documentary; booklet featuring interview with director.
